Well our 1st week is about to come to an end, we have been on the AT for 7 days and hiked 67miles,  not bad considering most of it was up and down mountains. A few firsts in our time traveling. I have gazed upon some of the most beautiful scenery that i have ever seen with my own eyes. I realized that all rice is not minute rice; and that we don't need as much food right now as we first thought. I have come to the conclusion that the best water I have ever tasted comes from a mountain stream, despite what some will tell you, and that all gear is about the same and the only difference is the name, material and warranty, and no matter how light you pack and regardless of what you decide to give up, there are some things you just refuse to live without. The fact that a poncho liner is the best piece of gear the u.s. Military has ever issued is never more evident than right now on the Appalachian Train. The person who thought of injingi toe socks is a true innovator. I  have decided once and for all that a Mothers love and concern for a son goes undisputed regardless of how much training he has and how many wars he has fought. We have met interesting and unique people from a guy called meandering snail for his ability to only travel two miles a day to a girl called lavender who sprinkles the herb in her cigarettes when she rolls them and despite having  feet problems at the beginning has been able to persevere and drive on.
There are many more miles ahead and many many more experiences with Adam and coda but one thing I can say is that this journey  is something I wish all could experience but I am sad that most won't . But all I know right now is it sucks to be wet though water is our best friend and when the sun is out my perspective on life is always brighter

God speed to all soul searching on the trail.
